Aerospace

Coatings used in the aerospace industry must be 100% dependable and function as intended without fail. Applications include:

  • Air Bearings
  • Connectors
  • Electrical harness Components
  • Control Surfaces
  • Electronic Device Trays
  • Throttle Box Seals
  • Ordanance Arming Components
  • Drop Tank Fuel Seals

Aerospace applications can include low friction, and anti-galling systems for moving, sliding and rotating parts. Very high speed, air bearing surfaces can be coated as a failsafe mechanism to act as a secondary lubricant in the case of failure or in cases of pick-up between rotating and static surfaces on air bearings.

One of the major benefits of PTFE coatings in applications within the aerospace industry is the capabilities of the coating to retain all physical properties throughout a temperature range of -195°c to +260°c.

In such an industry, components must operate correctly, every time, even if they have not been used for an extended period. The effects of vibration in wiring harnesses and potential electrical current leakage can be substantially reduced or eliminated with the application of a low friction coating that also has high dielectric strength and very good abrasion resistance.

In some cases, components are manufactured from exotic and very expensive materials. Sometimes additional plating or pre-treatments are applied, prior to the application of the coating. We understand the importance of maintaining the integrity of the parts during and after processing.
