PTFE Coatings are one of a handful of companies in the UK that specialise exclusively in the application of fluoropolymer coatings. The facility has been operating since the mid 1980’s and has been continually strengthened by our aspirations to learn from our own experiences. We maintain close working relationships with manufacturers such as Whitford, who produce the Xylan® range of coatings and DuPont, who produce the Teflon® range. We constantly strive to remain at the pinnacle of the industry in terms of technical expertise and problem solving capabilities.
Our flexible production facilities cater for every type of fluoropolymer coating system that is available, from ambient, air dry coatings, right across the spectrum to pure fluoropolymer systems that require curing temperatures in excess of 400⁰ centigrade. We have state of the art, calibrated equipment that allows us to accurately monitor all aspects of the coating process and to carry out industry standard testing procedures such as adhesion, hardness, pinhole detection and coating thickness measurements.
PTFE Coatings’ approach to our customers is very partnership orientated and we will always ensure that we present the most appropriate solution based upon our technical knowledge and the quantitative data that we have available to us. If numerous options are available, for commercial or practical reasons, we will always take time to explain the positive or negative effects that each option may have upon your process.
We work on standard production lead times but we also understand when a fast turnaround is required. In some circumstances, breakdowns or limited maintenance shutdown periods can present huge challenges. We fully appreciate this and are ready to respond to the best of our abilities.
Fluoropolymer coatings have very unique properties and can present equally unique challenges in their application. After all, how do you make a non-stick coating stick? Understanding the technology and chemistry around the benefits of such applications is a major strength that we have proudly developed over many years.

From the start of my working life as an apprentice toolmaker, then in later life, achieving a postgraduate diploma in management studies from Kingston University through to present day, with over fifteen years at a senior, strategic level within the fluoropolymer coatings industry I have developed a clear and comprehensive understanding of all facets of the industry and how to provide an effective solution to customers problems.
Starting out as Production Manager at Fluoro Precision Coatings in 1999, I had the opportunity to participate in a management buy out of the company in September 2004. My experience includes many years as an owner and director of Fluoro Precision Coatings and its sister company, Fluoro Precision Coatings (Petworth). Following separation of the two companies, I have assumed full ownership of the Petworth facility, now trading as PTFE Coatings Ltd.
Playing a key role in all aspects of the business from strategic development, technical sales, product development to production engineering and process improvement, I have a clear vision of how the business should operate to completely fulfil or exceed our customer expectations.
I have had the opportunity to attend advanced technical training seminars at Whitford and DuPont, which are very rarely available to only a handful of applicators with the pre-requisite understanding of the deeper concepts of surface engineering.
One of my key strengths is the ability to listen and understand and interpret a problem into a solution. Understanding the problem does not always give a solution. Having a very clear and comprehensive appreciation of the capabilities of our product portfolio, the product chemistry together with a highly motivated, customer focus, presents the opportunity to be creative and to provide unusual solutions that others may not consider.
